Carols by Candlelight — Treak Cliff at Christmas

Carols By Candlelight Events take place at weekends in December.
Our popular Piano Accordionist will provide unique accompaniment for familiar Christmas carols. A truly unique Christmas experience for family and friends.
Enter The Witch’s Cave which has been lit with thousands of fairy lights and candles to create a warm festive atmosphere. The festive singing which lasts for approximately one hour, with hot mulled wine and mince pies afterwards in the entrance seating area.
Children aged 4 and under are FREE and do not need to have tickets.
You can browse our shop for Christmas gifts with a choice Blue John jewellery and other items made in our onsite workshops, or choose rocks and minerals from all over the world!
Just a couple of things to bear in mind. Depending on the weather it can be very cold up here so please do dress for the weather and if its been raining leading up to your visit it may also be very wet in the cavern itself, check before you travel www.castletonweather.co.uk
- Singing begins at 2pm, but please aim to arrive from 1.30pm. There is a steep climb up to the cavern entrance area, and further up again to the candlelit chamber please arrive before the carol singing starts.
- There is NO WHEELCHAIR ACCESS
- Carol sheets are provided
- This is a standing only event
- Please note dogs are NOT allow in the cavern for the carol singing.
- If you have specific questions, please call us before booking, as no refunds can be given, due to the limited number of total tickets available.
Please note that Santa will not be here as he has moved into a Grotto in Castleton Visitor Centre!

Polish Your Own Blue John Stone
This is an activity which runs during selected school holiday periods. You select, prepare and polish a slice of Blue John Stone to take home. Also includes the self-guided smartphone audio tour.

The Blue John Experience
A truly unique, “hands-on” experience enables you to work with Treak Cliff Cavern family and staff to get really involved with this unique stone.
Learn about the geological formation of caves within the Peak District National Park and meet the family who own and care for the mine.
Go prospecting for your own piece of Blue John stone underground in the mining areas, here at Treak Cliff Cavern. Our expert craftspeople will guide you through polishing your selection and you’ll also be able to choose additional pieces from the workshop to make into a window hanger and a piece of silver-mounted jewellery.
